About this spot

Timmendorfer Strand is the chic address of Lübeck Bay: a long promenade, the finest sand and several surf and kite schools on site. Entry is shallow and sandy with a small wave when the wind is onshore – perfect for putting in your first runs. The best put-in sits a little away from the piers at the northern edge of town, where you find water space and parking close to the beach.

Which wind works at Timmendorf? Onshore and clean it comes from eastern directions (NE, N, E) – in NE a proper Baltic wave builds in the bay. West wind blows offshore, gusty and wind-shadowed behind town, so it suits more experienced riders. Rig and launch on the beach; the riding happens out on the water. Course season runs May to September, but spring and autumn often bring the better wind days for wing and windsurf. A good fit for beginners and improvers who like the smart bay atmosphere.
