About this spot

Between Travemünde and Niendorf in Lübeck Bay, the Brodten cliff juts into the sea. As a Baltic spot it is tide-free – in strong N/NE conditions the wave runs in freely onto the coast, making Brodten one of the best wave kite spots on the German Baltic. You usually rig and launch from the small car park on the east side of the cliff or the Niendorf beach car park; you ride in the wave in front of the cliff. The strip of beach under the cliff is stony.

Who is the Brodten cliff worth it for? Experienced wave riders and kiters with board feel – in the right wind it turns into a full-blown wave spot and a meeting point of the scene. If you're not confident in waves, you're better off on land. Best from September to April, when the strong northerly systems roll in.
