About this spot

Flat-water kite spot on the Egyptian Red Sea coast, north of Hurghada. Mangroovy Beach is El Gouna's most popular and beginner-friendly bay: large, shallow, waist-deep areas with plenty of space, plus an almost daily thermally reinforced northerly from N/NW. More than 70% of days a year see wind, mostly side-onshore, which makes launching and landing easy. In the main season March to November the wind often runs 20–25 knots; in winter (December–February) it is a touch lighter at 12–18 knots but still reliable.

When is the best time to visit El Gouna? Roughly March to November, with the strongest and most consistent conditions in summer. Suits beginners to pros and wingfoilers.

Location

Insider tips

At low tide the outer reef edge is partly exposed – booties are advisable. In season the wind tends to be all-or-nothing: either 20+ knots or dead. A mid-size kite suits most at 20–25 knots.

⚠︎ Hazards

Reef edge at low tide; sharp coral and sea urchins can occur in the shallows. Stronger northerly means more chop and power further out.
