About this spot
Neighbouring village to Tossens and Fedderwardersiel, a classic North Sea resort with a dyke car park near the beach. The kite zone sits to the left of the seawater pool (Nordseelagune); a wide tidal creek (Priel) runs in front of the groyne and, on the right tide, gives a nice flat-water piste. You rig and launch at the dyke/beach and ride out on the creek and tidal flat. As the water rises it gets choppier.
When is Burhave best? Around two hours after high water on the ebb the creek runs smooth – or you walk out on the rising tide and kite back to the beach with the flood. A good spot for beginners and light-wind fans who want to avoid the bustle of Norddeich or Dangast, April to October.
Location
Insider tips
Use the creek in front of the groyne – smooth about two hours after high water. Stay in the kite zone and keep clear of the swimmer area. BEEKite/Kitebrothers nearby.
⚠︎ Hazards
Tides: at ebb a muddy, long slog across the flats; current in the creek. Respect the bathing area and kite zone.
